Helping moms work and study.

All moms who are current shelter residents (or who have been in the past six months) are eligible for free after school care for their school-aged children (Grades 1-12) while they work or study.

Care is available from 2:30pm to 7:30pm from Monday to Thursday, and 1pm to 5pm on Fridays. Extended hours are available on most school-based holidays (using the Grande Prairie Regional School District calendar only).

Snacks are provided to all, but cooked meals are only available for children staying at the shelter. If you are sending your kids from outside, please send a bagged meal with them (no peanuts, please).

We’ve developed this program with sensitive needs in mind. Children that have been touched by family violence often present with some emotional and behavioural difficulties. We do everything we can to meet them with gentle sensitivity, helping them on the path towards healing.

When possible, we also organize field-trips that take the kids out to have fun together. This includes afternoons at the library, picnics in the park, and other organized games and activities.
